Problem with Existing Project in Visual Foxpro 9

Post by aviva » Mon Mar 10, 2008 2:20 pm

I have a Visual Foxpro project file as one of my files in SOS. Everything worked fine when it was in VFP6. I checked out the project (.pjx,.pjt, tried both with and without the .pjm file) and tried opening it in VFP9. Even though VFP9 has SourceOffSite set as the active source control provider, it will not connect to SOS and just sends me thru an infinite loop. This happens both if I try add to SOS or join SOS for the existing project. I also tried checking in thru SOS the files in VFP9 format which worked successfully, and rechecking them out. This did not help the SOS hook up from within VFP9. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible for you to test connecting with VSS set as the SCC provider?

VSS

I cannot test connecting with VSS set as the SCC provider since I don't have local access to the SOS server.

Can you try creating a totally new project from scratch and add that to SOS from VFP9?

This will let us see if it's just that project that's causing problems.

Same problem if I try to create a new project in VFP9 and add to SOS.

We wish we could be of more help, but we have never tested SOS with Visual FoxPro 9 and more importantly - we don't support VFP.

Some users have been able to successfuly use unsupported IDE's with our version control products, but when there's a problem, we're very limited in our ability to provide solutions.

We've found that although an IDE like Visual FoxPro may use the same integration API as VB 6 or Visual Studio 2005, there are differences in the way the API is used, so there's no "one size fits all" integration. We only support IDE's we have fully tested with SOS.

One option is to use the SOS GUI Client for source control functions while continuing development in VFP 9.

Perhaps other SOS users have used Visual FoxPro with SOS and can post their tips here.
