Reporting features?

Post by CareBear » Mon May 10, 2004 6:24 am

One thing I'm missing from Vault is the ability to do some advanced reporting (Perhaps I've missed something, but I haven't found anything so far).

What I would like is some general overview of lines of code, amount of files, current status (how many checked out, eg.) based on both USER and GROUPS.

Perhaps you could build a second application that enables some data mining against the Vault database that supports some basic sql queries, eg.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Sondre

Currently, the only reporting we have is history queries (which do contain a rich set of constraints to query on what has happened in the past), and the status search, which shows the current state of the tree by status, and also can show which files are checked out by whom.

However, we don't have the summary type reporting that you are requesting. Thanks for the request - we'll add it to our list.

I'd Love to See Reporting Too

My managers are constantly asking for metrics that could be obtained by reporting on such things in the Vault Database as first revision date, revision history, etc. It would be great if I could get this in a CSV or XSL for use by my management.

If you can get the results you want via a history query, you can output the results in HTML or comma/tab delimited files. In the history explorer, invoke Query->Save Results As to do this.
