SourceOffSite, SourceSafe and VS2005

Hi,

I'm running SourceOffSite client 4.2. This works fine and integrates perfectly with VS2005. The problem is when roaming users are in the office and want to set SourceSafe back as the default Source code control provider they always get the SourceOffSite prompt to connect to the server. This is despite the fact that they have changed the default provider in VS to be SourceSafe.

Any ideas?

Even though your default SCC provider has been changed to VSS, your projects are still bound to SourceOffSite.

To switch back to SourceSafe, open your project from disk. You'll get a prompt to log into SOS. Cancel that. You should then get a dialog that asks if you want to work disconnected or remove bindings. Choose to remove bindings. Save your project/solution files. Then in VS 2005, Tools->Options->Source control, chose SourceSafe as your plugin.

Next, in Visual Studio under File->Source Control, select Change Source Control and bind your project to Visual Studio.

You can go through the same process to move from VSS to SOS integration.

Another option is to check in all your changes before you switch source control providers and do an Open from Source Control into a fresh working directory. This will reset your bindings.
