Vault 4.1 client does not install properly in Vista

In any version of Vista, running the brand new Vault 4.1 installer results in following error: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738."

To fix this on x86 machines only, you can do what this post suggests:

In order to fix x64 machines, you need to go to the Windows/SysWOW64 directory and run "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" in an administrator command window.

Will this be fixed in the near future?

Several of us are running Vista (including x64) and have not encountered this problem. Did this happen on more than one machine?

Yes, it happened on a Vista x86 machine and a Vista x64 machine.

The installers need VBScript to run. VBScript sometimes isn't automatically enabled on Vista. So you are right, you need to register VBscript for the installers to run.

I am not sure if there is much we can do about this other than investigate using a different scripting language for the installers.

You don't need to investigate a different scripting language. Just detect if we don't have VBScript enabled and offer to enable it so we don't have to google the problem and solve it ourselves.
