"Object reference" error - only for my user!

Post by Peach » Wed Feb 20, 2008 4:58 am

Hello,

I've recently started getting an Object reference error after logging in through Vault client 4 (I've also tried the best version and the same thing happens).

It does log me in as I've checked the Logs on the server, and in the admin interface I show up as logged in. I get as far as choosing the Repository, but before it can list the objects within the repository an alert box appears with "Object reference not set to an instance of a object" and nothing else.

This error is restricted to my user on my PC, I have tried another PC and I can log in fine there, but the strange thing is I can log in as someone else on my PC!

I've re-installed Vault Client, uninstalled, cleared the registry, re-installed, re-started, re-installed etc. and nothing works.

Do you have any suggestions? This is driving me up the wall and I have a whole load of stuff that I need to check in.

Thanks,
Greg.

Completely delete your local cache. They are not cleaned out when re-installing Vault (which is correct behavior by the way) and if they got corrupt, I've seen such messages pop up.

You're right, avonwyss. Clearing the cache (located here: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\SourceGear\Vault_1\Client) has solved my problem.

Cheers,
Greg.
