Shared item does not update

Post by cjansen » Thu Feb 14, 2008 11:36 am

I have a folder that contains project output files for building an installer. The folder has shares to several other files. I keep seeing a situation with the shares where the original file is checked in and has a new version, but the share does not reflect the new version.

If I look at Properties on the share, it shows a difference in the Local copy version and the Latest in Repository. This shows up even if I Get Latest Version. I can't figure out any way for the share to reflect the new version.

If I try to delete the shared file (not the original), I get a Transaction failed error:

Code: Select all

2/14/2008 10:34:24 AM] Transaction failed
[2/14/2008 10:34:24 AM] An exception was encountered during the transaction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of Vault are you using?

If you look in the properties of the folder that holds the shared item, does it have a similar item to it already deleted?

We're running Vault version 4.0.1.

The Deleted Items tab in the folder's properties does not have files of the same name. There are others files in there, but none of the files that are having the version issue are in the list.

Does anyone else have the same problem with that shared item? If not, then that tells me it could be the cache on your system.

For the current files that are having this issue, I'll have to double-check, but I don't think I'm the only one. When the same problem occurred earlier this week, the same issue showed up on two different clients.

Do you mind if we take this offline so I can dig further? Can you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread?

When you send that email, could you attach a zipped up Vault Server Log to it?

I received the log and saw an error that read, "Critical Error! Error in the application." I'm having the user perform an iisreset on the server.

cjansen, I would also immediately recommend upgrading to at least Vault 4.0.6. There are some race conditions that can occur in Vault 4.0 - 4.0.5 which are fixed in Vault 4.0.6.
