VSS Import - Server Protocol Error

When trying to use the VSS Import tool, after providing the login information for the SourceSafe database and Vault server, I get the message :"This Vault server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client." Help!

Make sure the version of the VSS import tool exactly matches the version of your Vault Server.
