VS2008 support and support for 64-Bit

Post by APA » Wed Jan 09, 2008 1:21 am

We are going to move to VS2008 soon and will also be running Vista-64. Is Fortress capable of running in this environment?

The current System Requirements are that it's only supported on 32-bit Vista.

I can log a request for 64-bit Vista if you'd like. Also, check out the system requirements. There are some other 64-bit OS's that are supported.

We ran on 64-bit Vista Ultimate (+VS2008) clients for some time until a third party driver we required forced us to switch to 32 bit Vista. The .1 beta + VS2008 works fine winth 64 bits...

Sorry, I was thinking just the server portion. The client alone is fine on the 64-bit machine.

With VS 2008, it will depend on the interface you are using. We won't have official support of VS 2008 until the next release of 1.1.

If you currently in VS 2005 are using the VS 2005 client, then you are using the VSIP interface, and support for that with VS 2008 will be in Fortress 1.1.

If you are using the VS 2003 compatible client, then you are using MCSCCI, and we currently have customers running successfully with that interface and VS 2008.

Currently I still don't have a date on that. My closest guess would be either sometime in the first or second quarter of this year.
