We recently started using Vault and are wondering if there is some performance tuning that could be done. The problem we are seeing is that when even one person does a "get latest" on a whole folder with a lot of files (some of them having 50+ versions), the CPU usage on the Vault server goes up to 25%. That in itself doesn't seem like a big deal until we try to have 40+ developers doing this on the day we migrate to Vault.
I have looked over some of the Vault performance posts in the forum, but don't see anything standing out as making a huge impact.
Some stats on the server:
HP Proliant DL360G4
2 Intel Xeon 3.6GHz DualCore Processors
4GB RAM
Windows 2003 Server Standard 32bit
72GB 10,000 RPM SCSI drives in RAID1
SQL Server 2005 SP1
Vault and SQL Server are both on this server
The server is not used for anything else
With about 6 people using this system, CPU at various times has had sustained values of 75% or more.
Do you have any suggestions on where to start tweaking things?
Thanks,
Pete

The place to start is in our KB article index. We have an article on Vault Performance and on Database Maintenance, both of which will help in this situation.
