Installation issues upgrading

Post by Gary » Wed Nov 14, 2007 12:49 pm

Hi there, I started an upgrade of my vault server and client from version 3.5.1 to 4.0.5. Client instals no problem, however, at the server, I get the following error during installation:

OK
Configuring your new Vault Installation
Checking for IIS Version...Requesting Vault Admin user password...OK
Connecting to the SQL Server...OK
Verifying the SQL Server requirements...OK
Checking for an existing databases...Found.
Asking for database's fate...Keep existing.
Upgrading the existing source control database...
This may take a long time. Do NOT stop this process!
Checking the installed database version...OK
Creating SourceGear master database schema...The file "D:\SQLData\sgmaster.mdf" is compressed but does not reside in a read-only database or filegroup. The file must be decompressed.
CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.
Vault Setup is exiting due to a failure or cancellation. Error Code = -1280

I get the idea it's something simple under my nose, but no idea what...

any ideas???

Does this server have an NTFS compressed drive?

I think with SQL 2005, you can no longer create a database on a compressed file system. I don't know then how the sgvault is working unless that was installed before the drive became compressed and then it thought it was ok.

If it's not going to mess anything else up, you could maybe go to disk management and unclick "compress disk to save space."

Also, did you make a backup of your database before upgrading? I'm thinking as a just-in-case measure.
