VSS Import Questions

Hi,

We are currently evaluating Vault for our 10 developer team as a replacement for VSS and I've run into a couple of issues/questions.

We ran the VSS Import which worked great. It took around 1.5 hours to import the files (29513 Revisions, 1116 Folders, 9121 Files) with no errors.

Once the import was done, I logged into my dev machine, changed the default provider in VS2005 to Vault and tried to 'open a project from vault'. I navigated to the appropriate project and double clicked the vbproj file. Dialog closed but nothing was loaded. Huh.

I then closed VS2005 and opened the Vault client. Set the working directory for the root of the repository and navigated to the appropriate project and did a 'get latest' from there. I then opened VS2005 again and tried to open the vbproj file manually and got the following error

'The project 'CATBL' is under source control. An error occurred registering this project with source control. It is recommended that you do not make any changes to this project'.

I click OK and then get another error saying 'The operation could not be completed'. Then nothing.

What am I doing wrong here?

You projects are most likely still bound to VSS. To unbind, see this KB article:

Note that to unbind, you'll be using the VS 2005 with the VS 2003-style plugin, since VSS projects all use VS 2003 integration (MSSCCI).

Once the projects are unbound, you can switch to the VS 2005-style plugin and rebind, using the File->Change Vault Bindings command in VS 2005.
