Get Latest not pulling new files in web site project

Post by neal007 » Fri Nov 02, 2007 5:54 pm

As you can see in the attachment I have a file tagged as Missing as another dev added it. When I do a Get Latest on my project (asp.net 2.0 web site) it does NOT pull down this file.

Are you doing that Get from inside Visual Studio?

Are you using the VS 2003 compatible client (MCSCCI) or the VS 2005 client (VSIP)?

Can you show me a screenshot showing the file in the solution explorer in Visual Studio?

Per my signature, I'm using 4.0.5 of the VSIP (Vault 2005) client.

The file does not exist in VS.NET 2005 and I was doing a Get Latest in VS.NET to try to retrieve it and it wouldn't come down. I had to open up Vault GUI to see if it was there, and as in the picture it is.

Neal, this is probably a long shot, but I'll ask anyway.

Is it safe to assume this is a normal web based project with no project file? Or does the user who added the file have a project/solution file which still needs to be committed to the repository?

this is a normal asp.net 2.0 web site in the file system (not localhost/IIS, etc.) using VB.NET 2005 in VS 2005 Pro. The other user added a class as you can see, he had everything checked in and I was doing a Get Latest on the project node yet it was not pulling down the new file.

As you can see, the file IS in the repository, we're looking at it in the Vault GUI. I asked him to ensure everything was check-in and it was, it doesn't show checked out and it shows it in vault with "missing" when I view Vault GUI with the obvious meaning I don't have the new file nor can I get it from VS.NET.

Just to verify... A quick Search for Checked Out items to the other user pulls up no files for anything along that path or other path related to the web site?

Scratch my last post. This was now re-created in-house. I'm not sure as exactly why this is a problem, but you can plan on this to be fixed in Vault 4.0.6.
