need vs2005 compatible client

Post by jmr » Tue Oct 30, 2007 8:57 am

I am a new user and have installed version 4.0.4 and am using Visual Studio 2005 pro edition. When I choose options-source control, the only choice is vs2003 compatible client. What do I need to do to get the vs2005 compatible client?

Is this when you have a solution open already?

Check inside your Vault client install log in your %temp% directory. There might be an error listed there. Or you can post that log here.

I had installed vault and had begun working with a solution in vs2005. I noticed that it said 2003 compatible client when i chose the source control plug in. Then I saw in reading that there should be a 2005 compatible client. The only choice in the drop down is none or 2003, both when I have a solution open or when I just open visual studio before beginning a project. In the program files\sourcegear\vault client folder, there is only a folder for vs2003_client.
I am uploading the install log.

Thank you for your help.

If you go to Tools -> Options -> Source Control there should be a list in the "Current source control plug-in" combo box.

What are the options there?

The installer should enable this. What OS are you running? Have you tried re-installing the client?

I am using XP pro. It didn't have IIS installed when I started the installation so I had to redo it for that and several other odd problems I had. I finally got it working and then notices the 2003 client. I probably do need to just uninstall and reinstall it all; I was hoping someone would see something in the install log and tell me if there was something I missed or did wrong before I do it all again. I am pretty new at using Visual Studio (vb.net) and SQL Server 2005 along with just starting to try to use SourceGear Vault, so I wasn't sure where my problem was. I have the server and client on the same machine.
