What .net framework is required?

Post by vrapp » Fri Sep 28, 2007 12:22 pm

Hello,

this is somewhat low-priority problem, but still may be interesting.

On my machine, I have .net framework 1.1 and 2.0. Have VB6 and Vault client as default provider. Everything works.

One day, I accidentally uninstall .net framework 1.1.

After that VB6 crashes whenever there's operation involving Vault. If I disable the source-control addin, no crash. Reenable, crash again.

Repaired Vault. Same thing.
Upgraded Vault from 3 to 4. Same thing.
Reinstalled .net framework 1.1 - the problem is fixed.

What makes me wonder is, if Vault needs only framework 2 (right?), and
VB6 presumably does not need .net at all, then why?

You'll need .Net Framework 1.1 if you wish to use the integrated client as the Vault MSSCCI client used within VB6's IDE is based on the .NET Framework 1.1.
