Share between repositories

Post by Busboy » Wed Sep 05, 2007 1:54 am

Hi,
Is it possible to share files and/or folders between repositories? Or do I have to create a script that get files from one repository, and checks it in to another repository?

If you have Vault 3.5 or later, you can use the Vault Folder Export/Import tool to export folders from one repository and import into another. This exports folder history as well as files.

The Export\Import tool is in the Vault GUI Client directory in Vault 3.5.x and 4.0.x and is also in the Admin Tool directory for 3.5.x. There is a .chm file with documentation.

Using the export/import tool is a "manual" process performed by admin user. We have some files that are shared between projects (and repositories), and would like that all "copies" or "shares" of these files are automatically updated when changed. Is this possible?

You can share folders and files within the same repository and any change to one share will update the other share link(s). However, it is not possible to share across repositories.
