We are currently running Vault 3.5.2 with a couple of repositories. one for each Business Unit.
It turns out that a repository with MANY projects ( a couple for each of our customers ) makes working with vault, client and ide, quite slow.
We want to move to a situation where we have many repositories, one for each client, with a few projects.
We have about 200 clients I guess, each with 3 to 10 sub projects.
Would it be possible to have that many repositories ?
Question on number of repositories

Yes, you can have 200 repositories and performance within a smaller repository might be better.
Note: if you decide to upgrade to Vaut 4.x, I'd suggest waiting until Vault 4.0.5, as the new admin web client will be better able to handle displaying a large number of repositories than earlier 4.0.x versions.
There's no problem in Vault 3.5.2 as it has a Windows Forms Admin Tool.
