What do the red exclamations mean?

When I check out a solution (VS 2003, in case it matters), I see the check marks in the Solution Explorer window as expected, but I also see little red exalamation symbols next to the checkmarks. What I don't see is any indication of how to find out what the exalamation symbols mean.

Can someone please help?

Never mind... I see another thread just like this one. The red exclamation marks mean that the files are checked out exclusively.
