I am attempting to install the SOS 4.2 Client on Windows 2000.
I get an error:
Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\tmp\SosClientProfessional_4_1_2.msi
I'm a little confused by the mention of network error.
Any idea what is likely to be the issue?

This would most likely be during the uninstall of the previous version and is using the .msi to do that.
If the .msi file is on your system you're installing to, you might want to open up the permissions some just to get the upgrade performed.
If that .msi file is not on your system, you can use the Add/Remove programs to perform an uninstall of the software and do a fresh install of 4.2. You will need to add in your databases again and set things to the way you had them before, so you might want to check on your current setup before the switch.
