Unable to log in to VSS database

I have installed and configured SourceOffSite 4.2. I get the following error showing in the server log file when attempting to log in from a client:

7/31/2007 8:18:28 AM - Waiting for a connection....secure = False
7/31/2007 8:18:39 AM - Connection accepted from 3.181.57.192:1345 on local address 3.66.74.21:8080, session id is 1.
7/31/2007 8:18:42 AM - 1: Exception during Login: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {783CD4E4-9D54-11CF-B8EE-00608CC9A71F} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Is there something wrong with my configuration?

That usually indicates a problem with the VSS automation component.

Can you follow the instructions in this link for getting the exact automation component version you have for me?

Also, what version of VSS are you using (just generally)?

Some have found that uninstalling and reinstalling VSS fixed their issue, but you will want to make sure you have a copy of your database or a backup. You may wish to see Microsoft's website for instructions on the uninstall and reinstall so that your database remains intact.

Thanks a lot Beth. The problem was in fact the VSS installation was corrupt.
