CacheLocation

Post by Busboy » Fri Jun 22, 2007 8:00 am

Hi.
We have a build-pc with 2 admin users. Both users are using Vault, but the Vault cache location is identical for both users.
  • CacheLocation=C:\Documents and Settings\kim-v\Local Settings\Application Data\SourceGear
This is the user who installed the vault client, and first started it. Why is the profile identical????

We have tried to uninstall vault, and deleted the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SourceGear key for both users. Ater installing and starting vault again, both users still have the same CacheLocation. The computer is a Win2003 standard server, and we use Remote Desktop Connection to log-on. Both users have admin privilegies locally on this PC, and are also part of AD.

How can I force vault to use user-separate cache locations?

Regards, Kim

Can you look inside that location and see if there is a folder for each user farther down in that cache? There should be if they are using different Vault logins.

Also, are they logging into the windows machine under the same name?

What version of Vault are you using? In some versions, you can set the cache location under Tools - Options - Local Files.

Yes, there is a folder for each user farther down in that cache. The users have different user windows logins. We are using Vault v4.0.1

Can you have each user when they log in open a command prompt and try these two commands?
  • echo %username%

    echo %userprofile%
Are either of those values giving the same results across users?

Both of my users have individual usernames and user-profiles when I try these commands.

Hi - It turned out to be a mistake. In the "Cache Location" there was a custom folder settings, which pointed to the other user profile.
