merging databases

Post by steveac » Wed May 05, 2004 10:30 am

can you merge two vault databases? does all history transfer over etc?
we have two databases with 24hrs of difference between them. The difference is known - i.e. which files need to be overwritten and which don't and the difference is from the third level of the database i.e. about a quarter of the database. is there a way to selective merge and copy the branch from one existing vault db and import it to overwrite in the other?

thanks

Steve,

No. The best workaround that I can give you is to

1. (server1)Get to non working folder.
2. (server2)Set working directory to a clean directory. Get Latest.
3. (server2)Show Differences. In the dialog box, chooe local folder and select the folder that you did the server1 get to. Hit OK.
4. Use the diff/merge tool to merge as many of the changes as you can.
5. (server2)Check in the changed files, which will have status renegade or edited.
