Merging off-line file changes and History

Post by cwchilders » Mon Jun 18, 2007 8:31 pm

I copied my working folder VS2005 solution files to a laptop, installed Vault server and client, and bound the copied solution files to this new Vault. I worked on the project at a remote (I mean in the Alaska Bush!) for a few days, and now would like to move all my checked in changes to the original branch folder on my 'real' site. I would like to transfer the change History (not just the latest version of each file), and am unsure of how to proceed. Can you please point me to in the right direction?

regards,

If your change history is in a different default database, there's no easy way to append it to the current branch.

You could export that folder from your "Alaska Bush" Vault database and import it into the original database but it would take the place of the original branch folder, rather than add to it.

Another possibility if you don't have an unwieldy number of folder versions, is to do gets from history of each version of the folder, from version 1 to version X and check them in one version at a time, into the "real" database.
