question concerning the client software

Does the VSS client need to be install on a client machine before installing the client sourceoffsite or can the client sourceoffsite software be used in place of the VSS client ?

You do not need a copy of the VSS client on the SOS Client machine. (You still need to be a licensed user of VSS, though.)

The SOS Client connects to the SOS Server, which in turn communicates with the VSS database.
