Vault 3.5.2 -> Fortress 1.0 bug report

Post by gmagana » Sat Jun 09, 2007 5:17 pm

Trying to do an upgrade from Vault 3.5.2 to Fortress 1.0 on a new machine (so I only restored the Vault 3.5.2 DB on the new machine). Performed the following steps (which would have worked with previous versions of Vault):

- Restore the Vault 3.5.2 database on the machine (SQL Server 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise both exhibit this behavior, I only used mixed mode ["sa" user]).

- Install Fortress 1.0 server

- Get an error because the sgvautluser account does not exist, install is rolled back. Unsure about the state of the database, deleted DB since it seemed to only be partially upgraded.

To fix, did the following:

- Restore Vault 3.5.2 DB.

- Install Vault 3.5.2 Server.

- Uninstall Vault 3.5.2.

- Install Fortress 1.0... Success!

I could not find a similar error report, so hopefully this helps.

Thanks!

This makes sense, because when you brought over the db, you probably didn't create the sgvaultuser login. Since the database existed, the upgrade installer didn't add the sgvaultuser login. Thanks for the report. We'll try to correct this in future installers.

Yeah the point is that doing this used to work when upgrading Vault versions...
