Diffing unicode files

Post by k2k2e6 » Tue May 04, 2004 11:27 am

Hi,

I have checked in a Unicode file in the Vault. When I change this file and do "compare versions" in DevStudio, the Vault diff program does not show the differences very well. Is there a fix for it?

The file was generated by SQL Server 2000 Enterprise manager: Generate SQL schema.

Thanks
Pawan

Our diff tool does not yet support unicode files. It is on our list for a future release.

in the meantime, as a possible work-around, (assuming you don't need unicode support in your sql scripts), you could set enterprise manager to generate ansi based files.

it is under the "options" tab within the scripting dialog - change the file format option to "Windows text (ANSI)"
