3.5.2.5073 --> 3.5.2.5087

I downloaded and upgraded clients and servers to 3.5.2.5073 on the 20th when the new version was released, then downloaded at home the next day, only to see that a new version was posted with the same '3.5.2' monikor. Can I do a simple update to 5087, or was the one I downloaded considered the 3.5.2 preview, which I'll have to uninstall first?

The Vault server is the same. You can uninstall and reinstall if you wish (keeping the database), but the server is the same.

The problem on Friday had to do with the Vault Server installer. This was fixed in the latest build posted on Saturday April 21. Just in case, double check your %TEMP% directory to make sure you don't have any temporary web.config files copied and not cleaned up by the installer.
