Email notifications don't work for a path in repository

In my vault gui, I set up a watch path for:

$

Works great except for files commited under one particular path

$/Foo/DB

Files commited under that path do not trigger emails.

If I add $/Foo/DB as a watch path, it works, but why doesn't $ cover that path?

That's strange.

Try making a change to that directory, which should trigger an email notification.

Then check the Vault server log for any errors. It's sgvault.log in %windir%\temp\sgvault.

no email at all...
neither for check ins, nor for items
I've double checked the email smtp, settings... using your doc file. Do a copy paste from my Outlook smtp settings.
No mails

I'm the only user but trying to do the changes (items) from the admin account. The lone thing in the log that may help is the exception I think:
