HTTP 401 is returned from a POST to VaultService.asmx

I believe this is happening because I changed the default content pages on the site.

What should be the default content pages for the VaultService and the VaultShadowFolder virtual directories and the web site itself?

The web client works without trouble, it is the Vault client which reports this error. When I look at my IIS logs, I see the 401 returned for a POST to /VaultService/VaultService.asmx.

I also looked throught the logs from a week ago when things were working without trouble and seen the same POST request but this time with a result of HTTP 200.

The file is actually there and I can pull it up in a web browser without trouble.

I see security 529 events that tell me the IUSR_machinename account password in unknown or bad.

I will work on this and post later.

It was because someone changed the IUSR password without syncing it in the IIS metabase.
