Comment Not Required

Post by KennyPf » Tue Mar 27, 2007 8:18 am

i did a little opps when checking in a file the other day. I clicked the check in without comments... now when I check something in it doesn't prompt me for comments... how can I turn this off and get prompted for a comment. I tried in the Admin and in my local client but can't find any settings.

If you're using the Vault GUI Client, check under Tools->Options->Command Dialogs and make sure the proper dialogs are checked.

Or are you using Visual Studio? If so, which version?

I'm a little unclear on what behavior you want to see, but here are some settings to look at:

If you want to enforce checkin comments, this is in the Admin Tool under Repository Options->General. There's a checkbox for Require Checkin Comments.

If you want to see the Comments dialog, make sure to enable the Pending Checkins window in Visual Studio under View->Pending Checking. In the Pending Checkins dialog, there's a Comments button next to the Check In button. Click on the Comments button to toggle the comment box on or off.

Another setting is in Tools->Options->Source Control->Environment. There are options to turn dialogs on or off. Also there's a Reset button that might help.
