I was having problems with Vault 2.0.6 on Vista but I think I found the solution. (Yes I know Vault is old, but that is what we are stuck with for now.)

Vista is not installing the SP1 for .NET Framework 1.1!

The Windows Update for Vista is not showing SP1 as an available update when .Net 1.1 gets installed (like after installing VS2003)

Just download and install the SP1 package from Microsoft. It seems to be working fine now.

Working fine for me

Perhaps I'm just lucky, but I have 3.5.1 working on vista. It seems to be OK. I do have the VS2005 Beta Patch for vista.

One thing is that the client install will really mess up IE7. To get around this, deselect the option to make Vault the default SCCS provider.

If you've already installed, uninstall and then reinstall. Using the 'repair' or 'change' options won't fix it.

Yes, some users have been able to install a Vault client on Vista. But we're not officially supporting it until we've fully tested Vista and can help users who do run into problems.

Vista support will be included with Vault 3.5.2, due out in a couple of months.

Any news? Any way to make it work temporarily until the next version comes out? I'm about to install the client on a fresh vista install and I'm gettign nervous... SourceGear should at least have put out a patch for the client already, since Vista's been out since, when? November?

EDIT: I saw over in the gold support forum that the next patch is slated for sometime near the end of March (this month)? Is that still the case?

Look for the Vault 3.5.2 release in the upcoming weeks.

BTW - we will also be looking forward to people looking to work with the Vault 3.5.2 Beta. If anyone is interested, e-mail "vaultbeta at sourcegear dot com".

Thanks.

Got Past IIS 5 error on Vista

Post by par00036 » Sat Mar 17, 2007 9:06 pm

For anyone that's interested, I was getting the No IIS 5.0 installed error. After running regmon, I found that there were two keys that I didn't have access to (even though I was an administrator)

Worthy of noting, I did an upgrade from Windows XP to Vista and I've been trying to upgrade Vault Server from 3.1.9 to 3.5.0. The two keys that I had to explicitly grant permission to are:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InetStp
and
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3SVC\

Hope this helps others who are running into the same problem.

Another thing to try is run the installer as Administrator.

The following is a work-around used to launch the Vault installation files with elevated rights:
From the Start menu, [All Programs] -> [Accessories].
Invoke the context menu on “Command Prompt.”
Select “Run as administrator.”
Continue through the User Account Control dialog.
From the command line, start the Vault installation. For example: C:\> c:\dir_location\VaultClient_3_5_2_Preview.msi
