FPSE..

Post by tmck » Sun Feb 11, 2007 4:28 pm

I work in a mixed environment, more than half of the developers are using Interdev and VSS. The biggest problem with moving to vault is the FPSE (Front Page Server Extensions). We currently are moving to .NET but our programmers use VS 2005 and checkin/out via Interdev, this is done so checkins of .asp files are copied to our dev server. Does vault fully support FPSE?

No, if you integrate with Vault, FPSE is not supported.

If you need files copied to another location on the LAN, you could use Vault's Shadow Folder feature. Shadow Folders get the latest version of files from the repository into the shadowed folder.

Ok, so we could just use this shodow as our staging/dev directory and then copy files from there to prod? What about subdirectories etc? Will the shadow directory look the same as the vault directory structure? I would assume so...

Yes. Shadow folders are recursive -- if you shadow the parent folder, all subfolders are shadowed as well.

For more information, see Vault Admin Tool Help->Repository Options->Configure Shadow Folders:
