Backup “database” vs. Backup “repository”

Post by davenovak » Wed Jan 17, 2007 7:37 am

I have a number of repositories in my Vault database. Is there any way for me to do a backup of a single repository as opposed to backing up the entire Vault database (containing all repositories)? If not, I think it would be a nice feature to be able to backup and restore a single repository.

Alternatively, is there a way for me to have multiple Vault databases, each which contains just a single repository?

If this is not available, I would appreciate it being added to a feature request list. Thanks.

On the first one, we created a new tool that works with Vault 3.5 and higher that allows one to import or export a repository/folder/or files and all the associated history. The tool by default will reside in C:\Program Files\SourceGear\Admin Tool. We have a Export-Import Manual posted as well that you may wish to check out.

The Vault Server can only connect to one database, but the clients can connect to multiple Vault servers. If a group of people only use one repository or one set, then that could be set up on it's own Vault server with licenses for those people. The licensing is per user per server, so if you had some set division it would work. If everyone accesses everything though, then each person would need a license for each server. I will add a feature request though for what you are looking for.
