Saving a Project Version?

Post by gazwik » Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:59 am

Hi,

I've just released a version of a product that we've been developing for a while now using VS 2005 with vault 3.5.1.

Is there a way to set a milestone or checkpoint (not sure what correct term would be) to the Solutions' Projects contained in the repository? I'd like to be able to continue working on it but when needed just retrieve version x.x.x. Would also be good if I could export the lot to make a backup on CD etc.

Am new to sourcecontrol software so apologies if this is obvious or I'm missing something :))

Thanks

Gary

You will probably want to apply a label to that release so you can get the whole thing by label.

Resources for those new to source control can be found here:
Eric Sink's Source Control How To: http://www.ericsink.com/scm/source_control.html

If you use it integrated with an IDE, then you will to check out our overview article: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=790.

Thanks for your reply, very useful blog by the sourcegear dude :D

I think branching is what I'll be using though the "label" does kinda do the trick to some extent as well.

Thanks again

Gary
