Get By Label - Get is grayed out.

Post by ebrandt » Thu Nov 09, 2006 10:27 am

Hi-

I just had a need today to retrieve an entire project tree by label (for example to get our code tree as it existed when I labeled it 'beta1'.

I r-clicked on the project, chose 'show history...', then selected the label I am interested in. The help file says to then click on 'Get' but the 'Get' button is grayed out for me.

Any idea why this is, and how to make it enabled?

BTW, I am running SourceOffsiteClassic 4.1.

TIA,
Eric.

Is the SOS Server also version 4.1?

I checked with our IT staff and this is what we have on the server:
SourceOffsite Version: 3.5.3
SourceOffsite Edition: With Cryptography

Does that help diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Eric.

Yes. I was able to reproduce this with a 4.1 client connecting to a 3.5.3 server. For some labels, the Get button was enabled; for others, it wasn't -- I couldn't find a pattern.

However the Get button was always enabled when I used an SOS 3.5.3 client.

The problem is that there is an incompatibility between the SOS 4.1 client and SOS 3.5.3 server. We don't support using mis-matched versions of SOS Client and Server. You can get unexpected results, such as this issue with labels.

Thanks Linda,

I assume the problem would also be resolved if we upgraded our server to version 4.1? (or both clients and servers upgraded to 4.2).

Thanks again,
Eric.

Yes. I'd suggest upgrading to the latest version, SOS 4.2. You can try the demo download first, as SOS 4.x and SOS 3.x can run on the same server machine -- they run as separate services.
