Differencing current edits to a previous version

Post by iain.waddell » Mon Nov 06, 2006 1:43 pm

Is there an easy way to difference the current edits to an arbitrary version?

I've checked out version 8 and made some edits. I want to compare it to version 7.

As I couldn't see anything obvious I got version 7 to a different location and compared them but it seems a bit long winded.

That will depend on what version of Vault you are using as not all versions will have the same features.

In general, if you go into view history, you can select a version prior to what you have in the repository, you can compare it to what is in your repository.

I tried using the View History command but couldn't see how to compare a historical version to my local code (which hasn't been checked in). I removed some code and wanted to compare the changes to an earlier version rather than the latest version in the repository.

You could select the historical item in history, then diff against any local file or folder and browse to the file you made changes to.
