There are no solutions or project files

Post by phowatt » Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:25 pm

I am trying to add a new solution from Vault. I first create a new solution in VS 2005 with the name I want. Next I save the solution in the folder I want. Then, from the solution in VS 2005 I select the File option from the menu strip. Then I select Source Control from the dropdown. I am propmpted to log into Vault which I do. Next I select the folder in Vault that contains the solution I wish to download. Next I browse to the folder in my system where the newly created solution file resides to set the working folder. I select that folder and then select OK. I get the following error message. "There are no solution or project files in this location. Please select a different location." I have tried this several times. I have verified that there is a solution file in the location of the working folder. Still it does not work. I am using the latest version of Vault(3.5.1.4786). I am stumped.

Try selecting the folder just under this solution folder. It may have the project file you need.

No projects

I am trying to download a new solution from Vault and the only file that exists in the VS 2005 environment is the solution file. Normally the message I get at this point is a message stating that the file already exists and asks me if I want to override it. I usually just say yes and it then continues.

I could use more information about the steps you took. Are you creating a blank solution with VS 2005? If so what steps are you taking?

What kind of solution are you trying to download from Vault?

Could you open the solution from Source Control without creating a new solution on your local drive first?

I found the problem

Linda,

Thanks for your help. I finally figured out that our problem was a naming problem. When we set up the new solution file it had a different name than the one in Vault. Thanks again.
