Checked Out By list is blank

We just upgraded to 3.5.1 build 4786 from 3.1. We noticed that when doing a search using the option Checked Out By, the dropdown list does not contain any entries. But only for some users - other users see entries in this list. Is there any insight you can provide so we can correct this behavior?

Are the search settings the same for all users? Are they searching for items checked out by the same username, and searching from the same folder?

If so, and there still appear to be differences, try deleting the client-side cache files, as they may not have an updated view of the tree:
