Automatic GetLatestVersion on Open project issues

Hi,

I noticed that this option didn't update a file when using Microsoft VSS plugin.

Is that OK to use Microsoft VSS plug-in with SOS plug in?

How come I can't hide the 'Get latest version' on project startup?

We could use more information.

What version of SOS are you using?

Are you having this problem in Visual Studio? If so, what version?

Is that OK to use Microsoft VSS plug-in with SOS plug in?

Do you mean use Visual Studio integration with both VSS and SOS? Do you want to work on the same project with both VSS and SOS integration?

Do you want to disable this function in Visual Studio?

Yes and Yes.

I would like to use VSS client on server only but wonder about its stability.

I would also like to hide the 'Get' when first loading project. But it is critical tht this is done other I find myself releasing old code pages.

If you want to switch between using SOS and VSS for your source control provider, it's possible, but it will take extra steps.

If you are using Visual Studio integration with SOS and you want to switch to VSS, you would need to change your default Source Control Provider. If you have VS.NET 2003, this setting would be in the SOS GUI Client under Tools->Options->General->Make SOS your default SCC provider.
Uncheck this if you want to use VSS.

In VS 2005, the setting is in Visual Studio->Tools->Options-Source Control->Plugin settings.

Then after you have changed the provider, open the project in Visual Studio and use the Change Source Control command to unbind the project and then rebind with the new source control provider.

--To change the "Get Latest" on project startup, open VS.NET 2003 and go to Tools->Options->Source Control->General and uncheck "Get everything when a solution is opened."

In VS 2005, the setting is under Tools->Options->Source Control->Environment.

Basically, it is not feasable to switch concurrently work with the 2 in the get and check in mode on same project everday.

A project needs to be controlled in one way in this mode, yes?

It is difficult to work on the same project, with two different source control providers because of the binding issues.

If you have to work remotely, I'd suggest just using SOS as your source control provider, as SOS will work on the LAN, too.
