VaultIDE : Unable to create directory

Post by Sylvain Martel » Wed Aug 30, 2006 2:52 pm

Hi

we are currently trying your product (version 3.5.0.4741) and so far we like what we see.

We're having a problem when we try to get a project and create the working folder for it.

Attached with this post, pictures of the dialogs during the process.

If I manually create the folder than I will get all files of the project.

So, I don't think this is because of my user having not enough rights.

Thanks !

What kind of project are you working with? If it's a web project, they have their own special way of being dealt with.

Is this something that was originally being managed by VSS?
Are you trying to use a working folder that is already being used by a different project?

Usually I recommend that a person open a project in VS and then add it to source control, which lets VS handle it rather than starting with Vault first and going to VS.

This is a web project.

It has already been added to SourceGear trough <Add to source control>.

And then I try to get the files on another machine for collaborative developpment.

Getting the project on the second machine by opening VS and then <Open from Source Control>.

Thanks

Are you saying that you are successful opening that project from source control and working with it in VS, but just not with the first machine?
If you manually create the folder you want it in first on the first machine, then you are successful.
What happens on the first machine if you try the same original steps with a different project?

Hi,

I forgot to mention that on every machine that I've tried this, always getting the error.

And if I manually create the main folder for the project then I will get all files even the sub-folders that will be created without problem.

Also, a folder contains only 1 project. So for a new project it's a new folder.

Thanks

Are you creating the working folder on your machine or out on the network? Working folders are intended to be on your hard disk and not shared.
