Must use "Get Latest Version" to see source change

Post by BBM » Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:42 am

Hi,

I have Vault Server installed on a Windows Server 2003 machine, and Vault Client installed on a Windows XP Pro LAN connected desktop and an XP Pro Laptop that has a dial-up InterNet connection.

I can log into Vault both from the LAN and "remote" client, check out, modify source and check-in source (through VS) without any problems.

However, when I make changes to source from one client (check out, edit, and check in), and then load the same project in the other client, I do not see the changes until I use the "Get Latest Version" context menu item for the file (or it's parent project).

Isn't there a way to tell VS or Vault that you want it to automatically get the latest version when loading a project? I looked at the "Automatic Refresh" option in the Vault Client "Options" dialog, but this appears to only refresh after a specified time interval (useful, but doesn't solve my problem of wanting to always see the latest source after loading).

Thanks.

In Visual Studio there is an option to auto get latest when opening. Just go to
Tools-Options-SourceControl-Environment and check Get Everything When Opening a Solution or Project.
