upgrade from 3.1.8 to 3.5

Post by lduresky » Wed Aug 16, 2006 4:46 pm

Hi,

Our company purchased 30 Vault licenses in March of this year, and 10 more a couple of months later. We did not specifically purchase Gold Support, but I saw on your site that for the first year, Gold Support is included. (http://www.sourcegear.com/vault/pricing.html)

How would I be able to download 3.5?

Will it automatically keep the repositories intact?

If we choose to upgrade, will Visual Studio 2005 be able to recognize everything automatically?

We'd like to know what we are in for before we make what sounds like a drastic change so soon after we purchased the last version.

Thanks!!

If you purchased Vault with Gold Support, then yes, the Gold Support is valid for one year. If you purchased just Vault licenses, then you would need to purchase Gold Support in order to upgrade.

First, determine whether you have a current Gold Support subscription or whether you need to buy Gold Support. Contact sgstore@sourcegear.com if you need help with this.

Then, upgrade your 3.1 license to a 3.5 license:

How would I be able to download 3.5?
Download from our downloads page:
http://www.sourcegear.com/vault/downloads.html
Will it automatically keep the repositories intact?
Yes. Always make a backup of your sgvault database before upgrading. Then you can run the 3.5 installer over you existing installation. It will upgrade the database.

Then, enter your new 3.5 license(s) in the Vault Admin Tool->License tab. Vault 3.0/3.1 licenses do not work in Vault 3.5.
If we choose to upgrade, will Visual Studio 2005 be able to recognize everything automatically?
Yes, you should be able to connect as usual. NOTE: users must upgrade their Vault Clients to 3.5, as only Vault 3.5 clients can connect to Vault 3.5 servers.

So we would have to purchase 40 new licenses with gold support in order to upgrade?

No, you only need to buy 40 Gold Support licenses, at $99 each:
https://store.sourcegear.com/sgstore/or ... amily=gold

Then use the Gold Support licenses with your Vault 3.1 licenses to upgrade to 3.5 here:
