Two Databases on One Server

Post by smenmuir » Fri Aug 11, 2006 6:05 am

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to have two SourceGear Vault databases on a single server? (ie Test and Live)

I know that during the install there is no control over the databse name but is it possible to rename this to "sgvault_test" then install another database?

Would there be issues with the sqvaultuser account?

thanks

It might be possible, if you had two Vault servers on different machines, each communicating with a particular database. We haven't tested this, though.

Most users who want a test environment either install Vault and SQL Server on a different machine or set up separate repositories in the Vault database for Test and Live.

There may be problems because some things (like Admin Tool backups) will be looking for the sgvault database.

A possible work around is to have multiple Vault Servers and used SQL Server named instances to hold each individual sgvault database.
