Restoring Vault DB

Post by galhundi » Mon Aug 07, 2006 5:02 pm

Hello,

I formatted my pc and backed up the database by copying over the MDF & LDF files. After getting my computer back up and functioning again and installing the same version of Vault (3.5.0), I detached the default database that Vault installed and reattached my old Vault database. Thinking everything should work the same way, it doesn't. I can't log into the Vault database.

I'm obviously doing something. Please help.

Regards,
GA

For best results, attach or restore the database first, then install Vault.

I'd suggest you uninstall Vault, keep the database when prompted, then reinstall.

I tried that and I received the message below once I tried logging in to Vault.

"The Vault Server could not establish a connection to the database. Please check the server's log for detailed information. (FailDBConn)"

Could you post your Vault server log or email it to Linda at sourcegear.com? The log should be in %windir%\temp\sgvault.

I'd also like to see a copy of the vault_install.log file from your user's temp directory %temp%. This is the installation log.
