Hi,
I always prefer Valut for source control tool, and I recommand my clients to use source control to Valut, as it's always stable, simple and nice source control product.
However, I am doing contract on the client side, and one client has Vault 3.X license version, and another new client will buy vault 3.5 license. I have recommanded Vault to both clients for Visual Studio 2005 development environment.
I am really disappointed with v3.5, which breaks connectivity with previous versions. It returns an error: "This Vault server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client."
Also, I cannot install both version (3.x and 3.5) in single laptop?? I have created 2 windows login account for each client, but new version of vault always uninstall pervious version of vault client.
Is there any way to connect vault 3.5 client to vault 3.x server? OR How to run 3.X and 3.5 vault clients together with Visual Studio 2005?
Kind Regards,
John

Need Help for version switch
Hi,
I always recommand to upgrade to new Vault version.. Unfortunately, one client is not interested to upgrade at this stage, and i am facing hugh trouble between multiple versions of Vault client. I have to install Vault client 3.X or 3.5 everytime, I move from one place to another
Any simple solution or an command line tool, which updates registry to swutch between old and current vault versions would be great, and also, I can keep both Valut version in the same laptop.
Please help!
Regards,
John

vmware
I would recommend installing vmware and installing whichever version of vault you use less often in vmware, thus allowing you to use it whenever you want by starting vmware...
just an idea

You can have multiple versions of the client on the same machine.
To install multiple versions of the Vault Client on the same machine install version X of the client then rename the Vault Client directory or copy it to another path. Then install version Y of the client.
IDE Client - If you use the IDE, the installer changes registry settings for SCCServer path in this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceGear\Vault Client. If you just installed Vault 3.5 but want to use IDE integration with Vault 3.1.x, you'd need to edit this path to point to the correct Vault Client directory: C:\Program Files\SourceGear\<Vault Client v.3.1.x dir>\VaultIDE.dll.
For earlier versions, see this KB article:
