what does this mean?

This is the server-side equivalent of the "operation failed" message.
The automation component is throwing a generic error message -
without any specific details as to what caused the error.

Since the server doesn't even have enough information on who was trying to log in, it also throws the "user null disconnected" error.

It could be caused by a network error that causes a problem in the communication between client and server.
