VS 2005 issue
Hi,
I have a problem with my VS 2005 when i install Vault. Namely, if vault is installed i cannot find some feautures of VS like; from the "new item" dialog i cannot see About form, SplashScreen etc. ..they are simply missing. Is this known bug?

I'm not sure that this is specifically related to Vault. In my VS 2005, I see the about and splash templates, and Vault is installed. Were the templates there before, and then not there after you installed Vault?

Absolutelly Yes ... i tried with 4 different machines. Ah, also i forgot to mention that after i install vault my computer(s) becomes very unstable ... they crash down after couple hours ... i beleive it is because ot the other apps that are in conflict with vault. Is this known bug or what? Were the templates there before, and then not there after you installed Vault?
Regards
I did find one of my machines with fewer templates than the other two.
We'll try to reproduce this.
What version of Vault are you using?
What operating system are VS 2005 and the Vault Client installed on?
In VS 2005 look in Help->About for the version of Visual Studio and whether it is Professional Edition, Team Edition, etc.
What type of project are you trying to add a new item to? VB, C#, etc.

Well it is vb.net app but i suppose it doesn't matter at all ... however, my problem is more that my machine crash down than missing item from add item window (it can be solved ... if you change the path of where VS gets the list of templates). I was expecting to hear someone that vault is conflicted with some of the application i have here.
Anyway thanks for the answers and interest to help me out. it is highly appreciated

We certainly would like to help with this. We have not had reports of machines crashing just because Vault is installed. This is happening on a few of your machines, so there maybe something about the configuration that is conflicting with Vault.I was expecting to hear someone that vault is conflicted with some of the application i have here.
What operating system is on the machine? Is either the Vault Client or Vault Server running on a 64-bit OS?
What version(s) of the .NET Framework do you have on the machine?
What other applications are installed?
Is the machine crash reproducible -- is there a certain set of steps that leads up to the crash?
Are there any error messages related to the crash? Anything in the Windows Event Viewer?

I know it is hard for you to make diagnostic remotelly about what could be wrong ... but, we can try.
Ok i have licenced WinXP SP2 32bit for all the PC's where i've tested Vault on (i guess it is valuable to be mentioned that i have had never similar problem(s) like this one before). Also my PC's are brand name (HP). Also my notebook nx8220 which run inder WinXP with SP2 ... lol
I have next applications on all of my machines: PS CS2, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash 8, VS.NET 2003 & 2005 (which means i have both FW1.1 and FW2.0), Acronis True Image, Alcohol 120%, MSOffice 2003 SP2, Nero, Power DVD, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro, WinRar, QuickTime and SQL server 2000 (one run 2005) and thats it.
Nothing else that is installed on all of the machines (i.e. i have mySQL only ones installed while other computers are running without mySQL)
Thanks ones again,
Kulrom

Do you have any anti-virus software? When does your backup software run?
Is the machine crash reproducible -- is there a certain set of steps that leads up to the crash?
Are there any error messages related to the crash? Anything in the Windows Event Viewer?
Anything in the Vault Server log -- sgvault.log in %windir%\temp\sgvault?
You can also enable client-side logging -- open the client and hold down Control Alt Shift F12. This will generate a Vaultguiclient.txt file in your user's temp directory -- %temp%.
Perhaps the logs can provide information for diagnosing the cause of the crash.
