missing files while opening solution

Post by steve » Wed Apr 26, 2006 11:48 am

I'm having a problem with one solution not returning all files under source control. When I open the solution in visual studio 2003, it fails to copy some files to the working folder. If I use the vault client (ver 1.2.1) to get the latest version of the missing files, they get copied to the working folder. But the next time I open the solution I get an error "The working folder state information... incompatible with this version of vault... Ticks must be between DateTime.MinValue" I've tried deleting my local cache, but I get the same error. The other solutions work fine. Thanks in advance for any help.

The error message that you are receiving is typically from an incompatibility with the .Net Framework. My recomendation would be to upgrade your Vault Client and Vault server to at least 2.0.6 (which is a free upgrade).

Some important factors that I would like to know, is the project a web project? What is the type of files that are missing? How are you attempting to open the project?

Thanks for the quick reply Tonya,

The solution is a web project, and the missing files are aspx pages. (eg page1.aspx, page1.aspx.vb, page1.aspx.resx) Only a few of the pages are missing from a few of the folders.

I originally opened the solution from within visual studio 2003 (File-->Open from Source Control...) The pages are missing, but there are no error messages; I can check files in and out. When I open the vault client, I can see the status of those files as 'missing'. If I select the file and get latest version, the file is copied to my working folder but I get the error message.

I don't mind manually retrieving the missing files, if there is a way i can do so and not corrupt my working folder.

thanks again,
steve

Has this problem always existed? When you have the project opened in VS.Net, do you see the files that are missing displayed in the solution explorer? Could you maybe send me a screen shot of the Solution Explorer so that I can relate to how this project is set up (such as sub-folders, etc). My e-mail address is Tonya@SourceGear.com.

What version of the .Net Framework do you have installed?

Thanks,

Tonya
