Vault Label -- Label contains extra files [missing/old]

I have labeled a vault tree thinking that it only contains the files that I have on my local system, but when I ran a diff between the previous label and the current label, the diff output shows files that are either old or missing from my local system (these files have been either added or updated to existing files in vault). Is there a way to get vault to just label what the local system has? Both in the GUI Client and Command Line Client?

A label is always applied to the repository, not to your working folder(s). If you want to label what you have locally, you need to check it in first.
