Changed some usernames, checked out looses track

Post by stefvanhooijdonk » Thu Mar 23, 2006 10:48 am

I changed some of the usernames for the users in our 3.1.8 vault system. Apparently some of them had some files checked out. Now the checked out listings on most of the development machines is a bit off.

You can even see that the same user has the same file checked out on the same machine multiple times.

I want to make sure I understand the problem:

Did you change the user name "ramon" to "ramon,Ramon?"

And now you're seeing checkouts from both "ramon" and "ramon, Ramon" on the client side and in "Undo Checkout" in the Admin tool?

I changed "ramon" to "Ramon" and "branimir" to "Branimir"
Some other users too by the way.

"ramon,Ramon" :) no that is silly.

Well, you'd be surprised what some users do. :D

So I'm looking at two checkouts from the same user.

I was able to reproduce this. If ramon checks out a file and then you change him to Ramon and Ramon checks out a file, the Checkouts column may show both versions of the name because some checkout information is stored in the Vault client-side cache files. Deleting the client-side cache files for the client and the Admin tool will cause the newer name to be displayed.

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=6
CacheMember_CheckOutList - New for Vault 3.0 - Contains a cached copy of the list of checked out files (and the users who have them checked out). Deleting this file will cause Vault to request the entire list the next time it is started.

This is primarily a display issue. Vault still knows that ramon is Ramon and if you look in history all of roman's actions should now be Ramon's. Once the files are checked in or the checkout is undone, the name should display correctly on subsequent checkouts.
