Source offsite on Microsoft Cluster Server?

Post by Xenomorph » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:42 am

We currently run Visual Source Safe 6 and Source Offsite 4.0 on a Windows 2000 Server. Most other resources on the same server have now moved over to a new clustered environment (Microsoft Clustering Services on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server).

Is there any procedural documentation for installing SOS 4.0 in a MSCS environment, or it is just a big no-no?

I have searched the forums and not found anything to help (other than a post in Vault, which we do not use), so am preparing myself for disappointment. As a minimum though, I hope it's possible to put the VSS 6.0 database in a shared folder on the cluster server.

Thanks, in advance.

We haven't tried/tested SOS in a clustered environment. It might work, but we don't have any documentation.

Source offsite on Microsoft Cluster Server?

Hi,

We were wondering if SOS was now compatible with MS clustering or if there were any plans to include this in future releases.

Thanks,

Matt

No, we haven't made any changes or done further testing. I'll add a feature request for this, though I don't know when or if it will be implemented.

Thanks Linda,

I'm watching this thread so if you do hear anything then please post back if you remember. It would be a popular addition here!

Thanks,
Matt
